Working in ICT and in standardisation means that we are part of an ecosystem.
Our first partners are those incredibly inventive people working in an incredibly vibrant domain.
But, we also have solid partners that are providing new opportunities. Here are two of them.

ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute

ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), including fixed, mobile, radio, converged, broadcast and internet technologies.

ETSI is officially recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization. The high quality of our work and our open approach to standardization has helped us evolve into a European roots - global branches operation with a solid reputation for technical excellence.
CommLedge and ETSI
CommLedge has officially become a member of ETSI on November 18, 2013 as an SME (Small and Medium Enterprise). We join one of the largest groups of actors in the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), involved in the production of major worldwide standards that change everybody's life.

Most of the recent and current activities of CommLedge are linked to the participation to ETSI projects, the so-called Specialist Task Forces (STF) that are grouping experts performing a short-time project funded by ETSI or the European Commission. CommLedge has been participating as experts and often as project leader to several STFs.

On top of this, in the period from November 2008 to November 2017, Emmanuel Darmois member of the Board. From November 2011 to November 2017, he has been vice-chair of the Board and chairman of the OCG (Operational Coordination Group). This mandate has ended in November 2017.

The European Commission

The European Commission is one of the main institutions of the European Union (EU) and plays a crucial role in its governance and functioning. It serves as the EU's executive body and is responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding treaties, and managing the day-to-day affairs of the EU.

Amongst the most significant areas of activities for CommLedge is the management of the programs for research and innovation, most notably through Horizon Europe, which is the EU's flagship research and innovation program for the period 2021-2027. This program has a budget of around €95.5 billion and supports various projects aimed at enhancing scientific excellence and fostering innovation.

Additionally, the European Commission plays a significant role in the establishment and enforcement of standards within the European Union (EU). Standards, and in particular Harmonised Standards, are crucial for ensuring safety, quality, interoperability, and environmental sustainability of products and services across EU member states.

The Commission collaborates with various standardization bodies, in particular CEN, CENELEC and ETSI which contribute to the development of European Standards (ENs) that help facilitate trade and ensure quality.
CommLedge and the European Commission
CommLedge has been working with the European Commission in different contexts:
  • As part of a research project funding by the European Commission in the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programs.
  • As member of an ETSI Specialist Task Force (STF) funded by the EC and, quite often, EFTA (the European Free Trade Association).
  • As an advisor or a reviewer (the A of TPAD) on on-going or future research projects.
