IOT Virtualisation
Bringing the new IoT systems at industrial scale generally implies that (potentially) massive numbers of connected devices with strong requirements for scalability or automation of deployment automation. Another important dimension of the required properties of these systems is that of the non-functional requirements (such as low latency) that may be very stringent: new IoT systems will require a high degree of availability, adaptability and flexibility.
The models provided by Cloud Computing basically serve such requirements, and are potentially very powerful in support of the design, development and deployment of IoT systems with broad functionalities (computing, storage, analytics, etc.) provided to very dynamic and numerous users with non-functional properties (e.g., low latency, fault-tolerance, horizontal scalability, SLAs) and security.
The virtualisation of IoT will be done based on cloud native principles can be applied to the distributed IoT platforms: micro services, no single point of failure, high throughput, horizontal and vertical scalability, DevOps, etc.

ETSI Specialist Task Force on IoT Virtualisation (STF 535)
ETSI has launched the STF (Specialist Task Force) 535 on with the participation of CommLedge (Emmanuel Darmois) as Project Manager and Expert. The topics addressed:
- Definition of a framework for IoT Virtualisation using micro-services
- Identification of Open Source and standards support
- A proof-of-concept using Open Source Software
